Schedule separate one-to-one meetings with your supervisor for feedback and professional development. BASN does not offer an all-individual track.
Live client work
The model includes synchronous client observation and feedback. Each trainee’s qualifying work and observation are documented individually; watching another trainee is not automatic observation credit.
What 40 monthly fieldwork hours includes
This example uses the 2027 BCBA requirements for applicants applying on or after January 1, 2027. Your supervisor must confirm the requirements that apply to your certification pathway.

Client observation can overlap supervised time when the activity qualifies and feedback occurs in real time. It is not automatically extra supervision or extra fieldwork time. Each trainee must be observed doing qualifying client work; attending another trainee’s observation does not automatically meet this requirement.
BASN requires an equal group and individual split. BACB requires at least half of supervised time to be individual. BASN oversees the group activities and documents each trainee’s qualifying supervision and client observation.
Choose a sustainable starting pace.
Start at 40 monthly fieldwork hours and increase your pace when your schedule and qualifying work support it. Supervised time is part of your fieldwork total, not an additional allotment of fieldwork hours.
The 40-hour plan costs $300/month standard or $400/month concentrated. Clinical evaluation prices and clinical CareCredit information do not apply to trainee supervision.
